Liturgy and Liturgical Support
ALTAR LINENS
The cloths used at the altar in the course of the Eucharistic celebration are treated with the care and respect due those things used in the preparation and celebration of the sacred mysteries. Proper cleaning methods are used to preserve the beauty and life of the altar cloths and it is appropriate to accompany care of the linens with prayer.
ALTAR SERVERS
Altar Servers assist the presider on weekdays, Sundays, Holy Days of Obligation and other liturgical celebrations. Children from grade 3 through 8 are eligible to serve and must have received First Holy Communion. Training is provided.
ART AND ENVIRONMENT
* Church Décor - Design and prepare the church environment for weekend masses and liturgical seasons, including special candles and banners.
* Church Flowers - Provide and arrange floral decorations for all weekend masses, Easter and Christmas. Donations of flowers are always welcome.Meetings: Saturday mornings at 8:00am in the Church.
* Votive and Altar Candles - Maintain the votive candles in the chapel and all altar candles
BULLETIN INSERTS
The bulletin is a wonderful resource to let our parishioners and guests know about what is going on in our parish week by week. To include parish or parish ministry-related information in the weekly bulletin, contact the parish office. The deadline for inserts is Tuesday noon. Volunteers insert these informational flyers in the bulletin weekly. Please support our bulletin advertisers. Because of their generosity, there is no cost to our parish to print the weekly bulletins.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Children are invited to leave the Sunday 10:30am mass during the Liturgy of the Word and gather elsewhere to listen to the Scriptures and discuss its meaning at their level of understanding. We offer CLOW for children in pre-school through 3rd grade. Adult leaders are encouraged to assist at least once a month to make this ministry happen. This ministry is also listed under Faith Formation.
When: October through May
CHURCH CLEANING
Responsibilities of this ministry include vacuuming and dusting the Church, statues and the museum monthly, washing the pews once a year and spot cleaning the carpet as needed.
Meetings: Every 2nd Tuesday at 9:00am
EXTRAORDINARY EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Assist the priest in distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ to fellow worshippers who so desire at Saturday evening and Sunday morning masses, as well as Holy Days of Obligation. Ministers are scheduled for monthly or weekly assignments.
GREETERS
Greeters show hospitality and extend a sincere welcome to all those arriving for all weekend Masses and Holy Days of Obligation. In addition, they assist Ushers with distributing handouts after Mass. Greeters are scheduled for monthly or weekly assignments for the Mass of your choice.
LECTORS
At each Mass, Lectors orally read specific readings at the ambo at all masses (Saturdays, Sundays, Holy Days of Obligation, weekdays). Ministers are scheduled for monthly or weekly assignments and must carefully practice and prepare themselves, reading in a deliberate, slow and clear voice so that the words on the page come alive for those listening.
MINISTRY FAIR
The annual Ministry Fair is held in the fall in the Parish Center following each mass. This is an opportunity to learn more about each ministry, visit with Ministry Chairs, and sign up to volunteer.
ROSARY: A MARIAN DEVOTION
The opportunity to pray the Rosary is offered prior to 8:30am Sunday mass and immediately following daily 8:00am masses (Monday through Friday). Volunteers are needed for leading the Rosary prior to 8:30am Sunday mass.
SACRED MUSIC
5:30pm Saturday Holy Mass of Anticipation is supported by a Cantor and a pianist.
8:30am Sunday Holy MassThis choir supports the assembly in their sung prayer at the 8:30am Sunday Mass and offers traditional hymns with vocal support from sopranos, altos, tenors, and baritones accompanied by piano and percussion.Rehearse: Tuesdays at 7:00pm
10:30am Sunday Holy Mass
- Children’s Choir (1st Sunday)Boys and girls 2nd - 5th grade provide a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary Christian music to support the congregation in song at the 1st Sunday of the month.Rehearse: 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, 6:00pm-6:45pm in the church
- Choir (2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays)This choir supports the music at the 10:30am Sunday Masses on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of the month. Instrumentalists include guitar, bass, piano, percussion, wind and strings. Vocalists must have the ability or experience in singing harmonies and be able to sight read if possible.Rehearse: Monday evenings at 7:00pm in the Church
- Praise & Worship Choir (3rd Sunday)Youth and adult instrumentalists and vocalists lead a “praise and worship” style of music on the 3rd Sunday of the month. They provide the energy and musical support for the upbeat and contemplative repertoire of that Mass. Rehearse: 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00pm in the parish center music room
12:30pm Sunday Holy Mass in SpanishYouth and adult instrumentalists and vocalists support the music for the parish’s growing Hispanic community with upbeat and prayerful musical styles. Instrumentalists include guitar, bass, piano, percussion. Rehearse: Fridays at 7:00pm in the Church
SACRISTAN
Sacristans set up the Church, the sanctuary and the altar before every Mass. They remain alert during Mass for something that may need to be addressed.
STEWARDSHIP/SACRIFICIAL GIVING
The central theme of the Bible tells us that we are accountable to God for all the gifts of time, talent and treasure that He entrusts to us for our lifetime. As stewards of God’s gifts, we have the responsibility to share those gifts with others. This is particularly true within our parish and the extended family it serves. Sacrificial giving through our offertory gifts helps the parish bring Christ’s healing embrace to children, the elderly, the sick and the poor of our community.
Opportunities to give include:
- Weekly envelopes – contact the parish office to order envelopes

SUNDAY OFFERTORY COLLECTION COUNTING
As good stewards,volunteers are responsible for gathering and counting collections between 9:00am and 11:30am Sunday mornings.
USHERS
Assist Greeters in welcoming parishioners and guests and making Mass an enjoyable and beneficial experience for all who attend. Ushers greet and seat people, pass out bulletins and direct Communion. Other responsibilities include managing collections at masses, straightening up pews after Mass and periodically taking head count. They are familiar with safety equipment and deal with emergencies. Ushers are scheduled for monthly or weekly assignments for the Mass of your choice (Saturdays, Sundays, Holy Days of Obligation).
